Wildlife photographers often give you the impression that long telephoto lenses are vital for their kind of photography. On their Facebook page, many post a profile picture showing their face hidden behind their phallus symbol. Although it is true that most wildlife photos are taken with telephoto lenses, it doesn’t mean that you can’t make a wildlife photo with a shorter lens. It’s just a matter of ‘thinking outside the box’, where the ‘box’ is the idea that the animal always needs to fill the frame or at least most of the frame. Showing the animal(s) quite small gives you the option to include their natural habitat and those kind of photos should not be forgotten. Let me post a few examples as inspiration.
