According to the site mirrorless rumors Pentax will introduce two compact system cameras. The first camera would be based on a ‘normal’ 1.5x cropped sensor like Sony and Samsung, but the second one would be remarkable. It would be best described as a ‘digital Pentax Auto 110’. The Pentax Auto 110 was a very small camera with interchangeable lenses, based on the 110 film format. It never became a big success, but it has a kind of cult status. Why Pentax believes that a digital version of this system would be interesting, surprises me. The Auto 110 was functional, because at that time there were no really compact cameras with zoom. Today one can buy a compact camera with 30x optical zoom, so it seems unlikely to me that the market is waiting for a system based on a similar sized sensor and interchangeable lenses.
