Photoshop tip: Non-destructive Shadows/Highlights
Shadows/Highlights is a very effective Photoshop adjustment, but unfortunately it doesn’t exist as an adjustment layer, like so many other adjustments. It’s still possible to use this in a non-destructive way however, if you use the following trick. Select the layer you want to adjust and choose ‘Layer – Smart Object – Convert to Smart Object’. If you now use Shadows/Highlights, you will see that it will act as a smart filter. At any time you can go back to the Shadows/Highlights dialog and change the settings, simply by double clicking on the smart filter in the layers palette.
