Samsung has introduced the NX200, a stylish compact system camera with 20 Mp (APS-C) sensor. The company gave me a chance to play with the camera for a little while, so I’ve written down my first impressions. The camera handles well, and I like the return of some traditional dials and buttons. I don’t like going down in menus to change simple things like the ISO-setting. The autofocus of the NX200 is improved and is quite responsive in most situations, even when the contrast in the scene isn’t that great. The automatic exposure is excellent. I didn’t get one really under- or over-exposed shot during the time I played with the camera. I haven’t done a full noise test, but like many high resolution sensors it looks like you shouldn’t use this camera at too high ISO-settings. I used up to 800 ISO and at 800 ISO noise and signs of strong noise reduction start to appear. Overall Samsung seems to have produced a pretty good camera.
