Today is World Lion Day. On a day like this, I feel extra privileged that I have seen and photographed so many lions in the wild. I think we’re lucky that we can still see them, but that should not be taken for granted. All over Africa lions are threatened by poaching and by encroaching human populations. At the same time, some countries still allow ‘sport’ hunters to shoot the most majestic males, thereby corrupting biology and interfering with the normal process of evolution. If we want to be able to celebrate World Lion Day for many more years to come, we need to take action against this. Before it’s too late.
