Adobe has just released Lightroom Classic CC version 8.0. Previously, a new version number meant a major upgrade, that would install next to your old version and would require a catalog upgrade as well. That is a thing of the past however. Lightroom Classic version 8.0 is a minor update, which replaces Lightroom Classic CC 7.5 when you install it and does not require a catalog update. It’s basically just version 7.6 but for some unknown reason Adobe has decided that it was time to update the version by a full number. The most important new feature is that you can now merge an HDR panorama in one go.

Lightroom CC got a similar update disguised as upgrade. It went to version 2.0 today, also without adding really major new features.
