The latest version of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom (CC2015.8 or 6.8) contains a bug in the catalog backup. Some (not all) Windows users get an error saying that Lightroom could not make a backup of the catalog. Adobe is aware of this bug and is working on a fix. In the meantime, the easiest solution is to make the backup manually by copying your catalog to the backups folder from time to time.

All Macintosh users will get a warning dialog that tells them their catalog exceeds 4 GB and because of that, they will have to use a third party unzip utility if they ever need the backup. Even if their catalog is much smaller. This is a cosmetic problem only. Just click the “Don’t show again” checkbox and you’re done. Your backups will be fine.
