As most photographers know, Adobe has two payment options for using Lightroom. You can take a perpetual license as always, and you can get Lightroom as part of the Creative Cloud subscription model (attractive in combination with Photoshop CC). However, many photographers fear that they won’t be able to access Lightroom (and so their images) if they would choose the subscription model and for some reason have to stop subscribing one day. After all, Photoshop will completely stop working if you stop subscribing to it. The answer is however that Lightroom will continue to function, except that the Develop and the Map modules will no longer be available. You can still access your images, import new ones, print, export, but you can’t use the Develop module to edit them. You can even do some editing though: the Quick Develop part of the Library module still works and you can apply presets from there too.
