Panoramas with a tilt/shift lens
I’ve been playing with the Canon TS-E 24mm tilt/shift lens. Most people think of this lens as something only useful for shooting architecture, but a tilt/shift is actually quite versatile. You can use it for panorama photos as well, for example. By combining two photos that were shifted left and right, you’ll get a panorama photo of roughly 100 degrees. The difference with a panorama photo taken by rotating the camera is not earth shattering, but it’s clearly visible. The ‘shift-panorama’ is less distorted and of higher quality because images are not warped during stitching.
