Canon announced that the highly anticipated EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x lens with build-in 1.4x extender is delayed again. There is no official reason, but apparently the ‘bump’ (where the extender lens resides when not in use) at the right side got in the way somehow. If you look at that part of the lens you see that the MF/AF button is just behind that bump and my guess is that this is the problem. If you quickly want to disable the autofocus, you may find it’s difficult to get a finger in between the body and the bump to reach that switch. Whatever the reason, I’ve heard so many good things about the prototypes of this lens that were used at the Olympics in London, that I wouldn’t mind this inconvenience. So Canon, why don’t you give me one of those ‘useless’ prototypes, please?
