With the death of Steve Jobs, the world loses an exceptionally visionary leader. Steve Jobs was not a politician like Ghandi or Churchill, but his impact on our everyday life was at least as great. Even though most people use Windows computers, Windows would not have been what it is today without the Apple Macintosh. Windows started as (and in many ways still is) a shameless copy of the Macintosh operating system. The same applies to many mobile phones. Apple didin’t invent the mobile phone, but Steve Jobs showed the world what it should be like. The Apple iPhone is now the standard that many other manufacturers simply copied and still copy. Apple didn’t invent the tablet computer either, but again it was Steve Jobs who realised what a tablet computer really should be. Not a laptop without a keyboard, but a unique device for in the living room and on the road. Again, other manufacturers do little more than try to copy it. Let’s hope that Apple will be able to continue to lead the technology world with ‘insanely great’ products.
